Technology Has no Place at the Table

online poker players are not known for being science fiction fans. We are practical thinking people that value an intellectual challenge. It always boggles my mind, therefore, when online poker players try to sneak new pieces of technology onto the table. As if it wasn’t bad enough that we need to watch high tech poker when we watch poker on the television, we now are expected to be technologically advanced in home games as well. I am talking about the recent trend towards using electronic shuffling machines in casual home games. When did it become too difficult to shuffle? Generations of poker players found nothing wrong with actually handling the cards. They were able to shuffle and deal accurately without a single thought. For modern players this is apparently too advanced. This is simply not necessary. Get back to basics and play a poker game without technology. You don’t need a machine to show you how to shuffle. You already know how. If you go to a casual poker night and they pull out the electronic shuffling machine, be advised that this may not be the game for you. Electronic shuffling machines are for the technologically advanced crowd. Do you count yourself as one of them?
